                                                                         GWR / BR 28XX 2-8-0
Introduced in 1903, 168 were eventually built to differing designs. They were the first
2-8-0 loco to see service in Britain.
This kit models those members of the class built with a Churchward cab, 4 section long cone boiler, full length smokebox and curved front footplate drop as introduced from 1911.
Between 1945 and 1947 some of the class were converted to burn oil, but from 1948 to 1950 all were converted back to their original design.  Many variations existed during the life of the class and it is always advisable to use photographs for reference.
The kit is designed to fit the Graham Farish 8F chassis and suitable tender wheels.
Included is a simple etched tender underframe to improve the running qualities, handrail knobs and wire.  Full instructions, together with prototype information, painting details and kit building tips are also included.

Rebuilt by Aspinall from ex Barton Wright tender locos between 1891 and 1901.
230 were built and classified as F16 by the L & Y. Withdrawal began as early as 1926 but 101 were taken into BR stock in 1948. The last survivor was withdrawn in 1963.
One example has been preserved.
Only minor differences existed within  the class during its existance and these were mainly the positioning of  the handrails.
The kit is designed to fit a Graham Farish GP tank or 94XX chassis with only small modifications. It comes complete with detailed instructions, prototype and livery information and kit building tips.

                                                         SR / BR  Class 'Z'  0-8-0
Built at Brighton in 1929 they were the last heavy shunting locos built by the Southern Railway.
Only 8 were built.  During the war 6 of the class were loaned to the War department and saw service in Scotland.
Late in BR days they were used for heavy short distance freight haulage and banking duties. 2 were allocated to Exeter for banking and both were sometimes used on the same train - one piloting and the other banking.
They remained almost unchanged throughout their life - alterations were minor and these are mentioned in the instructions.  All were scrapped in 1962.
The kit is designed to fit the Farish 8F chassis which requires no modification other than the removal of the front bogie. Handrail knobs and wire are included in the kit along with full instructions and livery and prototype details.
